Apple's top phone, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, did not fare well in a recent drop test against Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra,

drop tests of earlier iPhone models have been performed using the same drop equipment, distance from the ground, and number of tests. 

but they serve as a helpful reminder that these are metal objects encased in toughened glass. 

In terms of the testing, PhoneBuff subjected an iPhone 14 Pro Max, a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and a third iPhone 14 Pro Max 

all of which were naturally protected by Casetifiy cases—to the identical series of drops tests from a height of 1.5 metres. 

phones were dropped by PhoneBuff on their backs first, then they were placed so that they fell on a corner, 

iPhone 14 Pro Max's back broke in the initial drop, but all of the glass was still attached to the device. 

A final drop from the same height onto steel broke the iPhone 14 Pro Max's rear glass, but it didn't affect its functionality
